Distinguishing himself as a talented conceptual designer and project manager, Michael has been the lead designer on many of P+A’s award winning projects. As a member of P+A since 1994 and a Partner since 2004, Michael brings to the firm the benefit of an extensive academic background. He holds degrees in Landscape Architecture from UBC, Geology from Queens University, and a Diploma of Fine Art from the Emily Carr School of Art and Design. Sharing his considerable experience in the processes of Landscape Architecture and his exceptional knowledge of design, Michael provides patient mentorship and direction to the staff at P+A. Michael is both technical and creative which allows him to approach difficult projects with a focus on innovative and realistic solutions.

Jason is a long-standing leader within the P+A team with many responsibilities, including acting as a mentor to our newer staff members and coordinating office initiatives. He is a graduate of the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph, with experience in landscape construction in Toronto and as a Registered Landscape Architect in Vancouver. Jason’s wide skill set reaches from masterplanning and conceptual design through to construction administration enabling him to ensure that our design ideas are realized as successful built projects. As a dedicated member of Vancouver’s Landscape Architecture community and through his interest in the social aspects of design, Jason is always finding new and interesting ways to bring people and ideas together. Jason draws inspiration from travelling and exploring urban spaces. He can be found skiing or hiking the local mountains on weekends, at live music events or at a local record store.

Johannes brings to P+A the combined experience of having worked in Landscape Architectural offices on three continents. This has given him a broad base of expertise ranging from conceptual design through to construction administration. He completed his Dipl.-Ing in Landscape Architecture in Hannover, Germany and has worked for several landscape architecture offices in Shanghai and Beijing, before moving to Vancouver and becoming a Registered Landscape Architect. With a passion for photography, jazz and design Johannes brings a wealth of talent and creativity to P+A. As the office photographer he captures the spirit of our firm with deep insight and appreciation. In his spare time, Johannes enjoys woodworking, mushroom foraging and volunteering at a local community garden.

A long-standing and valued member of the P+A team, Josie is an extremely capable Registered Landscape Architect with a wide range of abilities. With a degree in Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Landscape Architecture from UBC, Josie brings creativity and an exceptional planting palette to each design. Josie pulls inspiration from each experience whether it be work on the family farm or volunteering at a school garden. Supporting the office remotely from the longitudinal centre of Canada (Manitoba), she finds joy in community gardening, participating in a book club and carving the slopes on her snowboard.

Thaddeus joined P+A in 2016 after relocating from Cleveland, Ohio. He is a graduate of the Landscape Architecture program at the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry. His work in the field of Landscape Architecture includes an emphasis on community planning, park design and rainwater management. Thaddeus’ international work experience includes 3.5 years in the U.S. focusing on wetland restoration and an internship in Cardiff, Wales, UK, where he collaborated with communities to revitalize their waterfronts. He is active in exploring the local hiking trails with his pup Solly, enjoying a round of golf or volunteering as a green street gardener.

As an aspiring designer and nature enthusiast, June relocated from Bangkok to Vancouver where she completed her Bachelor of Environmental Design at the University of British Columbia. June brings to P+A a strong passion for urban design and sustainability paired with a diverse technological skill set from her past professional experiences. She is inspired by sustainable initiatives and big ideas and loves everything about maps. June enjoys capturing spaces, and in her free time, you can find her in British Columbia’s wilderness and beyond with a film camera. Her goal is to swim in as many alpine lakes as possible each summer.

Sherry displays a strong work ethic and dedication to the P+A team and the profession. She is a graduate of the Landscape Architecture program at Northeast Forestry University in Harbin, China. After relocating to Vancouver in 2015, Sherry earned her Master of Landscape Architecture from UBC. Before joining P+A, she has worked as an urban design intern focused on heritage conservation in Beijing as well as local experience in school, institutional and residential design. Sherry is driven to further explore the historical and cultural features of the profession and how human behaviour reflects them. Sherry enjoys mid-century design, antique hunting and is an amateur astronomer.

Jiling joined P+A after completing her Bachelor in Forest Resource Management and later her Master of Landscape Architecture from UBC. She also holds a diploma in Ecological Landscape Design from Gaia College. A native of China, Jiling relocated to Vancouver in 2012. She has extensive experience as a Garden Designer, working locally throughout the lower mainland and part-time as a plant expert at a local Garden Centre. Jiling draws inspiration from her surroundings and strives to incorporate an ecological approach and human-scaled touch through her designs. She enjoys patio gardening, contemporary dance, and choreography.

Maple brings a diverse background to our P+A team. She has a Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, Netherlands before graduating with a Bachelor of Environmental Design from UBC. Maple is originally from Guangzhou, China, where she developed a connection to the forest, mountains, and water. She also worked as an Urban Design and Architectural Intern in Rotterdam before moving to Vancouver. Maple is drawn to public spaces, circulation and enhancing the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces while finding ways to incorporate local materiality. She operates a food illustration blog and is inspired to continue language learning and teaching.

Selina brings a fresh perspective to the P+A team. She grew up splitting time between Hong Kong and Toronto before relocating to Vancouver. She earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts Architectural Studies and Human Geography degree from the University of Toronto as well as a Master of Architecture and a Master of Landscape Architecture from UBC. As a designer, Selina is interested in creating spaces that inspire healthy living and well-being. Drawing upon her experience at the Collaborative for Advance Landscape Planning, she enjoys engaging the community and developing ideas to integrate the built and natural environment. Selina enjoys hiking and experiencing different cities and cultures through food.

Kim, the founding partner of P+A, has been in private practice as a Registered Landscape Architect, site planner and urban designer since 1975, completing projects throughout Canada and internationally, including many locations across the USA and China. Kim’s expertise is in balancing vision with practical realities and expressing ideas graphically. His hand-drawn illustrative plans are engaging and communicate design concepts clearly and effectively. Regularly called upon to participate in charrettes and community-based public workshops, Kim is well recognized within the Canadian consulting community as an innovator, conceptual thinker, designer and illustrator.

As a Partner at P+A since 2004, Robert has gained expertise in all aspects of Landscape Architectural practice. His degree in Landscape Architecture is complimented with studies in arts and sciences at UBC, and a technical diploma in Architectural and Structural Technology from Camosun College. Robert is an accomplished designer, blending innovation with practicality. He has a wide range of experience on diverse projects locally and internationally including many high profile sites. He is a former director of the BCSLA, has been a multi-term panelist on the Vancouver Urban Design Panel, and has mentored many members of P+A over the years. Robert is well respected and recognized for his design talent and graphic communication skills, and has a deep understanding of process, materials, and how things fit together. Robert has offered his wisdom and insight through his generous mentorship and continuing dedication to the development of the profession.
