The Hudson

Victoria, British Columbia

P+A are the landscape architects for this project involving the restoration and adaptive reuse of the iconic Hudson’s Bay Building in downtown Victoria, British Columbia.

The mixed-use podium tower development includes commercial uses at grade with residential towers above. The large department store floor plate of the former Hudson’s Bay building was hollowed out above the first floor and a new east wing added to adapt the building for residential use and to create a central courtyard at the second floor. New common and private rooftop patios provide exterior social spaces with impressive 360º views across the city. Our firm was responsible for all landscape design including rooftops, the central courtyard and the streetscapes.
