P+A were the landscape architects the Granville Gardens, a senior living residence located in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood of Vancouver.
Landscape design contributes to the livability and sustainability of this urban seniors’ housing project. The internal site landscape features sustainable natural elements such as native or “naturescape” planting, linked storm water infiltration swales and retention ponds as features. A secondary meandering trail follows the storm water swale around the building, and provides quiet seating opportunities and links framed outdoor spaces. Semi-private outdoor patios function as extensions of the common indoor spaces and provide social gathering options.
